University of Cambridge, on the Digital Roads Prosperity Partnership is hiring a Senior Research Associate in Automation & Robotics - Apply Now!

Brief description of the role:

The position will involve working closely with other members of the DRF project who will be focusing on complementary aspects such as Data Science for road condition assessment and predictive maintenance, and the creation of a Digital Twin that can be used to visualise and make decisions about the UK road network. The Digital Twin is expected to produce 3D models of the road network, supported by gaming engines such as Omniverse and Unity, which would be used to carry out simulations of how human-robot teams would go about repairing road defects and assets. The position would therefore involve working extensively with robot simulators to model both vehicles and robotic repair processes (such as robot arms), in order to deliver a proof-of-concept end-to-end simulation platform that would be used to assess the possibility of using various road maintenance strategies in practice.
