About
A Digital Twin, within the context of the construction industry, is a digital representation of a physical building. Inside the digital twin various interconnections of building components and their interactions can be represented and intelligence can be seamlessly integrated. The purpose of the twin is to turn data from interconnected and interacted components into new insights, simulate interdependencies between building components, services and the natural environment, and thereby to have a deep understanding of building construction.
Digital twins have a growing interest in both the scientific and industrial communities, where they are attracting huge amounts of investments from digital transformation programmes both nationally and internationally. The first workshop on Digital Twins for Built Environment is organised by theArtificial Intelligence Research Center(AIRC) from theSchool of Computingat Ulster University in collaboration with theSchool of Architecture and the Built Environmentat Ulster University andProperty Doc Ltd, Ireland. The workshop aims to bring people together to raise the awareness of digital transformation and twins and to share the experiences in the relevant areas, as well as to promote research and applications of digital twins within the scientific and industrial communities.
